Darren Anderton backs Michael Laudrup for Tottenham Hotspur job

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Darren Anderton claims that Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup is the ideal candidate to replace Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Darren Anderton has backed Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup to replace Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane.

The Dane is one of several names linked with the vacant position after the Portuguese parted company with the club on Monday following the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.

Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle has also been touted for the role but, while Anderton admits that his former manager would do a "great job", the 41-year-old claims that Laudrup is the ideal replacement.

"Tactically Glenn [Hoddle] is absolutely fantastic and with those sort of players he would go in and do a great job," he told The Mirror.

"But I like Michael Laudrup. What he has done at Swansea has been great and they play good football. With better players to work with he could make Tottenham a very good outfit."

Laudrup recently ruled himself out of the running for the job, while Louis van Gaal is reportedly top of chairman Daniel Levy's wish-list to join the Lilywhites.
