Graeme Souness believes that Joe Jordan or Gordon Strachan would be worthy contenders for the Scotland manager's job.

Former Scotland midfielder Graeme Souness believes that ex-Tottenham Hotspur coach Joe Jordan would be "perfect" for the Scotland managerial role.

The ex-Rangers boss is confident that Jordan would bring back winning ways to the Scottish outfit but has claimed that bookies' favourite Gordon Strachan would also be a worthy contender.

"[Jordan's] an obvious candidate," BBC Sport quotes Souness as saying. "Everyone knows the passion that Joe showed when he was a player. He would be perfect. He fits the bill. [Strachan's] another real genuine candidate. In fact, him and Joe would be the outstanding candidates."

Jordan left his role as Tottenham coach when manager Harry Redknapp was sacked at the end of the season.
