Roma, Inter Milan share the spoils in Rome

Inter Milan miss the chance to win at Roma in Serie A for the first time since 2008 as they are held to a 1-1 draw courtesy of a late equaliser from Radja Nainggolan.

Radja Nainggolan scored in the 84th minute as Roma came from behind to draw 1-1 with Inter Milan in Serie A on Saturday night.

Ivan Perisic had sent Inter into an early second-half lead in Rome, but Nainggolan's strike six minutes from the end of normal time ensured that the home side, who sit third, would retain their five-point lead over fourth-placed Inter in the league table.

The first real chance of the match came in the 19th minute when Perisic set up Adem Ljajic, who in turn found Eder, but the striker could not beat Wojciech Szczesny from inside the box.

Roma had the ball in the back of the net five minutes before the break when Mohamed Salah converted from close range, but the offside flag had been raised, before Samir Handanovic kept out a stinging strike from Stephan El Shaarawy down the other end.

Inter had the lead in the 53rd minute, however, when Perisic made no mistake after being picked out by Marcelo Brozovic.

The response from Roma was strong and Handanovic again had to be at full stretch to keep out Salah in the 80th minute, but Roma had their equaliser four minutes later when Nainggolan slid home from close range after Edin Dzeko had scuffed a shot.

Dzeko might have won it late on after a set-up from Salah, but the striker fired wide from close range as the points were shared in Rome.
