Joaquin Larrivey at the double for Rayo Vallecano

Argentine striker Joaquin Larrivey finds the net twice as Rayo Vallecano defeat Almeria 3-1 in La Liga.

Joaquin Larrivey found the net twice as Rayo Vallecano defeated Almeria 3-1 in La Liga.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when attacking midfielder Alberto Bueno rose highest in the area to nod home Iago Falque's corner.

Rayo extended their lead in the 57th minute, with Larrivey finding space inside the box and guiding Jonathan Viera's pass over the line.

Almeria turned up the pressure on 72 minutes, pulling a goal back through Fernando Soriano, but it was Larrivey and Vallecano who had the final say.

The Argentine hammered the final nail into Almeria's coffin five minutes later as he tapped home another Viera cross from close range, resulting in a final scoreline of 3-1.
