Rangers are reportedly contemplating whether to replace current head coach Michael Beale with Birmingham City boss John Eustace.

Rangers have reportedly identified Birmingham City boss John Eustace as a potential replacement for Michael Beale.

Last season, the Glasgow giants made the decision to bring Beale back to Ibrox, where he had previously been as assistant and went on to impress at Queens Park Rangers.

Since his return, Beale has recorded 27 victories from his 38 matches in charge, losing seven times, but many of those defeats have come in high-profile fixtures.

As well as succumbing to Kilmarnock on the opening weekend of the Scottish Premiership campaign, immediately handing the initiative to Celtic, Rangers also went down to the champions on Sunday, albeit in controversial circumstances.

Nevertheless, preceding that latest setback, Rangers lost 5-1 at PSV Eindhoven to miss out on the Champions League group stages, resulting in their demotion to the Europa League.

While there is currently no indication that a change in leadership is imminent, the Daily Mail suggests that pressure is growing on Beale.

The 43-year-old and his Rangers team were venomously booed after losing to their Old Firm rivals at the weekend, an indication that Beale has quickly become out of favour.

In sharp contrast, Eustace has enjoyed an outstanding stint with Birmingham City, initially keeping Blues in the Championship despite their long-standing issues off the pitch.

Birmingham are now in a much better position, a consequence of a successful takeover and funds becoming available due to the fee that they received through Jude Bellingham's switch from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid.

The West Midlands outfit have since started the new Championship campaign with a five-match undefeated run, collecting 11 points from those matches.

Having gone into the international break sitting just two points adrift of leaders Preston North End, there is growing expectation that they can sustain a promotion push.

Should Rangers part ways with Beale, it is claimed that they would target a replacement with the same attributes - a British coach who has established himself as one of the best up-and-coming figures in that area.

Eustace holds a contract at St Andrew's until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
