Charlie Austin wants quick Queens Park Rangers managerial appointment

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin believes that the club must appoint a new manager soon, and admits that he would enjoy working with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin has stressed the importance of a quick managerial appointment at the club, and has admitted that he would enjoy working with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Hasselbaink has been given permission to talk with the R's over their vacant managerial position by current employers Burton Albion, where the former Chelsea striker won promotion from League Two last season, and Austin has suggested that the club would benefit from his swift appointment.

"We want it to be done as quickly as possible," Austin told Sky Sports News. "If it's Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink then great, but we need to get it done as soon as possible because I think the uncertainty at the football club is harming us and we need to knuckle down as be together as a group.

"If he does come it'll be nice to bounce things off him, he'll probably have things to improve my game, and if we're working with someone of that calibre and the quality he had as a player of course it will be nice.

"He was marvellous as a centre-forward, he scored so many goals for so many different clubs, and goalscorers are hard to come by."

Hasselbaink's Brewers are currently top of League One, with 41 points from their opening 20 matches.
