Report: Queens Park Rangers to open Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink talks next week

A report claims that Burton Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be the subject of an official approach by Queens Park Rangers over the next seven days.

Queens Park Rangers are reportedly planning to make an official approach for Burton Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink over the next seven days.

The Hoops have been without a manager since parting company with Chris Ramsey at the start of the month following an indifferent start to the campaign.

Neil Warnock, placed in charge of the West London outfit on an interim basis, has already effectively ruled himself out of the running to take on the position permanently.

Hasselbaink is widely considered to be QPR's number one target, with one report suggesting last week that a deal to bring the Dutchman to Loftus Road was "almost certain" to go through.

Burton insist that no official approach has been made for the man who guided the club into League One, but it is claimed by West London Sport that discussions could begin over the next week.

Hasselbaink is said to be keen on a return to London and would therefore be happy to take up the vacant role at a club currently positioned in mid-table in the second tier.
