Ian Holloway gives Chris Ramsey backing at Queens Park Rangers

Former QPR boss Ian Holloway believes that Chris Ramsey should remain in charge of the club following their relegation from the Premier League.

Former Queens Park Rangers boss Ian Holloway has claimed that current manager Chris Ramsey is the right man to lead the club forward following their relegation from the Premier League.

The R's were sent back down to the Championship on Sunday thanks to a 6-0 thrashing by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

It is understood that the QPR hierarchy are eager to give Ramsey a permanent contract after the 53-year-old was appointed on a temporary deal until the end of the season back in February.

Holloway now hopes that Ramsey is given more time at Loftus Road to help the club get back into the top flight.

"I have the utmost respect for Chris and he would not have been given that opportunity if he hasn't got the talent," he told Sky Sports News.

"I think Chris took over at a really difficult time. The way it was all announced, I thought that was the chairman's ideal manager at the time. Hopefully Chris will be given the chance to prove that because he was definitely given a poisoned chalice."

QPR continue their Premier League campaign on Saturday when they host Newcastle United.
