Alex McLeish tops Queens Park Rangers managerial shortlist?

A report claims that Queens Park Rangers are edging towards appointing Alex McLeish as their new manager, as the Scotsman seeks a return to British shores.

Alex McLeish has reportedly climbed to the top of Queens Park Rangers' shortlist to replace Chris Ramsey as head coach.

The former Scotland manager, who has also been touted for the vacant Fulham and Blackburn Rovers jobs, is interested in a return to British shores after spending a year in Belgium with Genk.

It has previously been reported that Nigel Pearson was the number one candidate for the Hoops but, according to the Daily Star, McLeish is now the frontrunner.

Neil Warnock has been placed in charge of the West London outfit on an interim basis yet, despite bringing in Kevin Blackwell to assist him in the role, the 62-year-old is not in the running to land the position full time.

It is claimed that Rangers are now facing a power struggle over who exactly should lead the club, with director of football Les Ferdinand hoping to get a new man in place sooner rather than later.

McLeish guided Genk to seventh place last season, having taken over the Jupiler League side when they were near the foot of the table, but he is now seemingly ready to delve back into Championship management.
