Portsmouth contact Rangers over organising a future friendly match in order to raise funds for both struggling clubs.

Portsmouth have asked Rangers to compete in a friendly fixture in order to raise funds for the stricken clubs.

Both outfits have dropped into administration, with fears that Pompey could go out of business before the end of the season, while Rangers need to save £1m per month to survive.

"We hope to do something with Rangers," Portsmouth administrator Trevor Birch told the Daily Mail. "I am waiting for the administrators at Duff & Phelps coming back to me. We have proposed a plan and are waiting for a response."

It is thought that the SPL champions are open to organising a match but are struggling to find an available date on the league calendar.
