Sepp Blatter's daughter believes FIFA president is victim of a conspiracy

The daughter of Sepp Blatter believes that the FIFA president is the victim of a conspiracy from "behind the scenes" amid the latest corruption scandal.

The daughter of FIFA president Sepp Blatter has claimed that her father is the victim of a conspiracy after the world governing body was rocked by another corruption scandal.

Seven football officials were arrested in Zurich last week by Swiss and US authorities on suspicion of bribery, money laundering and racketeering.

It is alleged that more than $100m (£65m) was accepted in bribes from the 1990s to the present day.

Fourteen people have been indicted, and while Blatter has not been implicated, there have been calls for the 79-year-old to step down from his position.

In an interview with the BBC, Blatter's daughter Corinne said: "Nobody is without fault but, he's not the person who is taking money."

When asked if she thought that there was a conspiracy against Blatter, Corinne said: "I wouldn't say from the Americans and the British, but certainly people working behind the scenes, yes absolutely.

"I don't know if you want to call them dark forces but I mean they really tried hard, they tried in September, October last year."

Blatter was re-elected as FIFA president for a fifth term on Friday after his challenger Prince Ali conceded defeat.
