Sepp Blatter: 'UEFA need FIFA'

FIFA president Sepp Blatter insists that UEFA need the sport's governing body, despite Michel Platini supporting Prince Ali's bid against Blatter.

Sepp Blatter has insisted that UEFA "need FIFA" despite Michel Platini supporting the FIFA president's rival in yesterday's election.

The UEFA president urged the European nations to vote for Prince Ali in a bid to oust Blatter, but the Swiss will remain in charge for a fifth term.

The 78-year-old said at a press conference: "[Platini] was in the meeting this morning, and two speakers, one of those European, said that we have to get together, because UEFA is part of FIFA. They need FIFA, and FIFA needs UEFA."

Football Association chairman Greg Dyke has previously indicated that England would consider boycotting the 2018 World Cup if Blatter remains in charge.
