Allan Saint-Maximin could potentially be on his way out of Newcastle United, after a social media post appears to cast doubt over his future.

Allan Saint-Maximin has cast doubt over his Newcastle United future with a cryptic post on social media.

The French winger has had plenty of injury setbacks this season but that did not stop the Magpies from finishing in the Premier League's top four.

After picking up an injury in early April, Saint-Maximin made just one start in Newcastle's final 10 games of the season - the final game against Chelsea.

A post on Instagram from the 26-year-old appears to put his Newcastle future in doubt though, with the past-tense nature of the message potentially being a farewell.

In the post, Saint-Maximin says: "I want to thank all of my best supporters for believing in me, before further saying "I always tried to help the club in the best way possible."

Saint-Maximin would go on to reveal he has lost some people close to him this year and that he is now entering a 'turning point' in his career.

With Champions League football coming up next season, Eddie Howe is expected to bolster his squad this summer to deal with the strain of the busier fixture schedule.
