RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann says that he would let forward Timo Werner leave for Liverpool or Manchester United if he wants to make the switch.

RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann would reportedly let forward Timo Werner leave for Liverpool or Manchester United if he wanted to make the switch.

The 23-year-old has been in electric form for the German side this season, scoring 11 goals in as many Bundesliga matches.

Such hot form has led the former Stuttgart striker to be repeatedly linked with both Liverpool and United, and now the Leipzig manager has intimated that he would not stand in the player's way if he wanted to leave.

Speaking to Bild, Nagelsmann said: "I've already advised many players to take off their wedding ring with their current club to move somewhere else.

"I'd do the same with Timo Werner if he were developing faster than the team at RB Leipzig."

Following his appointment as manager, Nagelsmann tied Werner down to a new contract that would keep him with Leipzig until 2023.

However, the deal included a release clause of just £27m, something that has heightened the interest in the striker from many of Europe's biggest clubs.
