AC Milan reportedly accept that they cannot strike a permanent deal for Manchester United loanee Diogo Dalot in the upcoming transfer window.

AC Milan will reportedly make no effort to sign Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot on a permanent basis this term.

The 22-year-old played an integral role in Milan's Europa League campaign - banking one goal and two assists from 10 appearances - but the Rossoneri were sent packing by Dalot's parent club in the last-16 stage earlier this month.

Dalot has struggled to cement his place in Stefano Pioli's starting lineup in Serie A, but there has nevertheless been talk of the right-back securing a permanent move to San Siro this summer.

However, Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has affirmed that Dalot will not be sold, and Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla now claims that Milan are considering alternatives to the £17m-rated defender.

Pedulla reports that the Rossoneri are instead turning their attention to Napoli's Elseid Hysaj - who is set to become a free agent in the summer - while tying Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu down to new contracts are also priorities in the coming weeks.

Dalot has started just eight of Milan's 28 top-flight matches this term, bagging one goal in their 2-0 victory over Hellas Verona earlier this month.
