A report claims that Manchester United's players have sided with Sergio Romero after the goalkeeper was left out of the club's Champions League squad.

Manchester United's players have reportedly been left disappointed by the club's treatment of goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

The 33-year-old was priced out of a move away from Old Trafford in the summer transfer window after United demanded £10m for his signature.

Romero is now considered fourth choice behind David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Lee Grant, having been left out of the club's Champions League squad.

ESPN reports that United's players have expressed their sympathy with the Argentina international's situation, feeling that he has been hard done by.

Romero equally feels that he has been unfairly frozen out after five years of service, it is claimed, with the ex-Sampdoria keeper expected to watch on from the stands until January.

Everton were among the sides tipped to move for Romero in the summer window, only for United's price tag to put them off formally submitting an offer.
