Manchester United leave Sergio Romero, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo out of their squad for the Champions League group stages, while all their new signings are included.

Manchester United have left Sergio Romero, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo out of their squad for the Champions League group stage but have included new signing Facundo Pellistri.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have been drawn in Group H on their return to the top tier of European competition, alongside Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig and Istanbul Basaksehir.

Clubs had to submit their squads for the first phase of the competition proper this week, and Manchester United have revealed that three first-team players have not made the cut.

Romero, Jones and Rojo - all of whom were linked with a move away from Old Trafford during the summer window - will be ineligible to feature in any Champions League group game.

The likes of Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams are also absent from the 'A-list' squad, although they have been included on the 'B-list', which features homegrown youngsters aged 21 or younger eligible to be added to matchday squads.

All of United's summer signings, including 18-year-old Pellistri, also make the cut.

One of those, Edinson Cavani, could make his debut for the club in their opening group game against his former employers Paris Saint-Germain on October 20.
