Manchester United 'ban club legends from criticising Jose Mourinho'

Manchester United reportedly ban their club ambassadors such as Bryan Robson, Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke from criticising manager Jose Mourinho and his players.

Manchester United have reportedly banned their matchday ambassadors from criticising the current crop of players and manager Jose Mourinho.

Speculation over Mourinho's future at the club has grown following a tumultuous start to the season, with United having won just one of their last six games across all competitions.

The Red Devils have shown signs of improvement with a come-from-behind victory over Newcastle United and a 2-2 draw with Chelsea either side of the international break, but they remain nine points adrift of leaders Manchester City and Liverpool.

The Mirror reports that the matchday ambassadors - including Bryan Robson, Denis Irwin, Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, Park Ji-Sung and Gary Pallister - were ordered to only be constructive in any criticism of Mourinho prior to their most recent home game.

A number of former United players such as Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane and Rio Ferdinand have been critical of United's form and style under Mourinho in their roles as TV pundits.

However, the club are eager to limit the negativity surrounding their poor start to the campaign and have told their ambassadors to avoid adding to it when mingling with guests in hospitality lounges.
