Manchester United are set to confirm Erik ten Hag as their new manager in the coming days, according to a report.

Manchester United will confirm Erik ten Hag as their new manager in the coming days, according to a report.

The Dutchman is said to be on the verge of agreeing a three-year deal to take the reins at Old Trafford, with the option of an additional 12 months until 2026.

Ten Hag has consistently shot down questions linking him with the United job while he remains focused on the task at hand with Ajax, who lost 2-1 to PSV Eindhoven in the weekend's KNVB Beker final.

Now, The Guardian reports that Ten Hag's arrival at Old Trafford will be announced imminently once the 20-time English champions have finalised the 52-year-old's €2m (£1.6m) release clause.

The report adds that Ten Hag is demanding to have the final say over any transfers the club intends to make during his tenure, and his number two Mitchell van der Gaag is expected to follow him to Manchester.

Ajax technical director Gerry Hamstra recently admitted that the club tried "everything" to convince Ten Hag to snub interest from the Red Devils.
