Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes reportedly investigated the possibility of the forward joining Paris Saint-Germain to link up with Lionel Messi this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo was interested in a move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer in order to link up with Lionel Messi, according to a report.

The 36-year-old looks set to sign for Manchester City after confirming his desire to leave Juventus, but his future has been up in the air throughout the summer.

Real Madrid were also interested in re-signing Ronaldo, while the player himself took to social media to dismiss rumours linking him to Man City and PSG.

However, The Independent states that Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes did investigate the possibility of the forward joining Messi in the French capital.

The report claims that the deal did not happen because PSG were unwilling to pay Ronaldo's wages, having already broken the bank to sign the Argentine.

Instead, the Portuguese international appears to be heading to Manchester, with only a fee needing to be agreed before it becomes official.
