How Manchester City could line up against Bournemouth

Ahead of Manchester City's Premier League meeting with Bournemouth on Wednesday, Sports Mole looks at how Pep Guardiola's side may line up.

Manchester City take on their favourite Premier League opponents on Wednesday evening as they look to continue building momentum with victory over Bournemouth.

The Citizens, who had their two-season European ban lifted on Monday, boast a 100% record against the Cherries in their previous nine encounters in the competition.

Pep Guardiola's side have won back-to-back games by the same 5-0 scoreline, but the Catalan boss has revealed that he intends to rotate ahead of Saturday's FA Cup semi-final with Arsenal.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how City could line up against lowly Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium.

Out: Sergio Aguero (knee)
Doubtful: Joao Cancelo (knock)

Guardiola has pretty much a fully-fit squad to choose from, bar the absence of striker Sergio Aguero with a knee injury and possibly Joao Cancelo, who has been carrying a knock.

Assuming Cancelo is not risked, Kyle Walker will have to continue at right-back, but Oleksandr Zinchenko should come in for Benjamin Mendy on the opposite flank.

This match presents John Stones with another opportunity to regain his confidence, meanwhile, likely alongside fellow fringe centre-back Nicolas Otamendi.

Further forward, Fernandinho is in contention to return after starting on the bench against Brighton, while the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden are also pushing for inclusion.

A lack of back-up options up top may well mean Gabriel Jesus having to start again, though Guardiola does have the option of playing without a recognised striker.
