Liverpool defender Stefan Bajcetic announces that he has signed a new contract with the Reds after playing a prominent role in pre-season for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Liverpool starlet Stefan Bajcetic has announced that he has signed a new contract at Anfield.

The 17-year-old arrived at Liverpool's youth academy in January 2021 after leaving Celta Vigo and is starting to emerge into the first team under Jurgen Klopp.

Bajcetic is yet to make his senior debut for the Reds but was involved prominently in pre-season, and he made the bench for Saturday's 2-2 draw with Fulham.

The Spain Under-18 international - who is shifting to a holding midfield role after learning his trade in defence - only penned his first professional deal in November but has now extended his contract on improved terms.

Bajcetic confirmed his extension on social media, posting on Instagram: "Happy to extend my contract with this club. Hard work continues!❤️ @liverpoolfc."

The teenager came up with two goals and one assist in 12 Under-18 Premier League appearances for Liverpool last term and played 78 minutes of Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League 2 as a number six.

Bajcetic follows the likes of Mohamed Salah, James Milner, Diogo Jota, Joe Gomez and Luke Chambers in signing a new contract with Liverpool this year.
