Bayern Munich's Matthias Sammer: 'We need to discuss Mario Gotze's future'

Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer says that the club will hold talks with Mario Gotze after he revealed that he will consider his future in the summer.

Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has claimed that he will need to hold talks with Mario Gotze after he poured doubt over his future at the Allianz Arena.

The German World Cup winner has been linked with a £37.2m move to Liverpool.

The 23-year-old has ruled out moving to Anfield to reunite with his former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp this month, but has suggested that he will consider his future at the end of the season.

When asked about the speculation, Sammer told reporters: "I said it was madness when there were rumours about a transfer in January, whereas Mario was talking about the end of the season.

"Mario's comments were an indication that we will have to sit down at some point in the coming months and discuss his situation. That is only logical.

"I cannot see anything negative about what Mario said. He has put a few things up for discussion and we will clarify everything in the second half of the season. A lot of things will have been resolved by then."

Gotze has been out of action since October with a groin injury.
