West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has claimed that his future is in the hands of his current club, amid interest from West Ham United and Leeds United.

The 28-year-old has achieved personal success this season, despite the Baggies' relegation and his side conceding the most goals in the league, making over 150 saves and earning his first call-up to the senior England squad.

After Gareth Southgate handed Johnstone his first call-up in March, the keeper has also made it into England's provisional 33-man squad for the European Championships this summer, and could make his senior debut next week.

Speaking to iNews, Johnstone recognised that his future at the Hawthorns is to be decided by the club: "I'm still a West Brom player and I'm just looking forward to going away with England, working hard and being proud of the moment.

"I know there has been a lot of talk about my future but it's in West Brom's hands rather than mine so I'll just put it to the back of my head. You never know what can happen in football because it's a crazy world where things can change quickly.

"I've still got a year left on my contract at West Brom so, as things stands, I'll be going back there for pre-season."

West Ham and Leeds have emerged as potential buyers of the England goalkeeper, and with West Brom's relegation to the Championship, Johnstone may be tempted by the offer of staying in the Premier League.

Johnstone made the move across Birmingham to join West Brom from Aston Villa in 2018, and he played every minute of the Baggies' promotion-achieving season in the 2019-20 campaign.
