Simon Grayson 'interested in vacant Leeds United job'

Simon Grayson reportedly wants to return to Leeds United six years after being sacked, as the Whites seek a replacement for Thomas Christiansen.

Former Leeds United boss Simon Grayson would be open to returning to the club for a second spell in charge, according to a report.

The Whites are on the lookout for a new manager after parting company with Thomas Christiansen, who saw his side fall to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds are hopeful of making a swift appointment, likely in the next 48 hours, and Grayson - responsible for guiding the club back into the second tier - is said to have made his interest in the position known.

TalkSPORT suggests that the 48-year-old feels as though he has unfinished business at Elland Road, with his previous spell ending in February 2012 when United were three points adrift of a playoff spot.

Former England manager Steve McClaren is also understood to be in the running to take charge, while Gordon Strachan, Marco Silva and Paul Heckingbottom have also been linked.
