Michael Dawson strike rescues point for Hull City

Michael Dawson nets a late equaliser as relegation-threatened Hull City come from behind to draw against West Bromwich Albion.

Michael Dawson's 72nd-minute strike has salvaged a point for struggling Hull City against West Bromwich Albion.

After both sides started in cagey fashion, it was West Brom who came closest to taking the lead when James Morrison found space to shoot on the edge of the area and sent his effort over the bar, despite having Salomon Rondon in support.

However, the Baggies, fresh from a 4-0 win against Burnley on Monday, took the lead 11 minutes before the break when Matty Phillips's corner was headed home from close range by Gareth McAuley.

After a first half in which Hull failed to deliver a shot on target, the hosts almost got back on terms when Dieumerci Mbokani tried to latch on to a Curtis Davies header, but was unable to connect.

Moments later, the home side threatened again when a Robert Snodgrass shot from distance forced a low save from Ben Foster.

Foster was called into action again to deny Jake Livermore and Snodgrass once more as the Tigers continued to probe for an equaliser.

On 72 minutes, the Baggies defence relented when another Snodgrass delivery was knocked down by Mbokani into the path of Dawson to slot home.

West Brom almost snatched a late winner at the end when Rondon headed James McLean's cross inches wide of David Marshall's post, but the West Midlands club were forced to settle for a draw and remain inside the top half of the Premier League table.
