Ronald Koeman: 'I'm still confident in my own ability'

Everton manager Ronald Koeman refuses to give up hope of getting his side back on track following a run of two wins in their last nine games in all competitions.

Ronald Koeman has insisted that he is the right man to turn around Everton's current struggles following another disappointing display on Thursday night.

The Toffees came unstuck in a 2-2 home draw with Apollon Limassol in the Europa League to make it just two wins in their last nine games in all competitions.

Koeman has come under fire from certain sections of the Goodison Park faithful but, while he understands the criticism aimed his way, the Dutchman remains confident in his own managerial ability after success in the Netherlands and in English football with Southampton.

"I am too long in this job to lose my confidence," he told reporters. "Yes, I am worried about how we turn this situation round but I have enough confidence to be the same manager I was for the last six or seven years, and I was successful.

"I respect every opinion of Everton fans. It's easy to support a team when they are winning. It's more difficult when they are not. But that's in every place, in every club. The fans are allowed to react and be frustrated. I was frustrated yesterday. That is normal."

Everton are 14th in the Premier League table ahead of their home match against Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
