Chelsea reportedly join Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in the race for free agent Sergio Ramos upon the expiry of his contract at Real Madrid.

Chelsea have reportedly joined three other clubs in the battle for the signature of centre-back Sergio Ramos, who has left Real Madrid as a free agent this summer.

After 16 years at the Spanish giants, making 671 appearances and scoring 101 goals, the 35-year-old's contract at the Bernabeu expired on Wednesday, leaving him available on a free transfer.

That came after an injury-ridden season, with Ramos only featuring in 15 of Los Blancos' 38 La Liga games due to several issues, while also missing out on the Spain squad for Euro 2020 for that reason.

Nevertheless, he became the record holder for the most international caps received by a European player last year, and boasts an impressive trophy cabinet with five La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, two European Championships and a World Cup trophy, making him a man in demand this summer.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea have joined Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the race for the Real Madrid legend's signature, with Thomas Tuchel looking to add to his defensive options.

The Blues' capture of experienced centre-back Thiago Silva paid dividends last year, as he went on to help his side to a Champions League title and a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League, and Chelsea are hoping for similar success should the Spanish legend choose to move to Stamford Bridge.

Ramos featured in the second leg of Chelsea's 3-1 aggregate victory over Los Blancos in last season's Champions League semi-final.
