Chelsea and Manchester City are in a battle to sign Sunderland teenager Bali Mumba, according to a report.

Chelsea and Manchester City are reportedly locked in a battle to sign Sunderland teenager Bali Mumba.

Mumba has been with Sunderland since the age of eight and signed his first professional contract with the League One outfit last week.

The 17-year-old made his first-team debut in the Championship last season, and has featured three times in League One during the early stages of the 2018-19 campaign.

According to The Sun, despite Mumba only just signing a new contract, Chelsea and City are both battling to sign the highly-rated midfielder, who could be available for £2.5m.

Mumba has represented England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level.
