How Chelsea could line up against Brighton & Hove Albion

Sports Mole looks at how Chelsea could line up for Wednesday's meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion, including a first Premier League start for Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Chelsea will be looking to build on a fortuitous win over Cardiff City when they host another relegation-threatened team in midweek with the visit of Brighton & Hove Albion.

Refereeing errors were as big a reason as any for why the Blues scraped past Cardiff in controversial fashion on Sunday, and the nature of the victory did little to ease the pressure on manager Maurizio Sarri.

Just one point separates Chelsea from the Champions League places, though, and should results go their way in midweek then they could claim a top-four spot with only six games of their season remaining.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Sarri could set his side out for Wednesday's contest at Stamford Bridge.

Out: Marcos Alonso (hamstring), Ethan Ampadu (back), Marco van Ginkel (knee)
Doubtful: Davide Zappacosta (ankle)

Sarri's team selection against Cardiff at the weekend raised eyebrows with Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante both left out, but the pair are expected to return for this match following their rest.

The main headline could surround Callum Hudson-Odoi, though, with the England international expected to be handed his first Premier League start in one of the next two games.

Indeed, it could be a completely different front three to the one which started in South Wales, with Olivier Giroud hopeful of earning a starting role as a result of his impact off the bench and Gonzalo Higuain's struggles so far.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is another pushing for a start following his match-winning cameo off the bench at the weekend, with Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic the most likely to miss out in that scenario.

Sarri revealed in his pre-match press conference that Marcos Alonso has suffered a minor hamstring strain and so will be rested for a few days, opening the door for Emerson Palmieri to come back in at left-back.
