Head coach Mauricio Pochettino reportedly continues to retain the full backing of the Chelsea hierarchy.

Chelsea reportedly have no plans to assess their managerial situation in light of their indifferent form this season.

After a 2022-23 campaign where Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Bruno Saltor and Frank Lampard all held their reins, Mauricio Pochettino was appointed as head coach in the summer.

The Argentine has been backed by a wide array of additions, with the majority being younger players with potential who are expected to turn Chelsea into Premier League title challengers.

Before the international break, everything appeared to be on track, at least in the short term, with Chelsea collecting four points from matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

Performances in that double-header raised expectations ahead of the trip to Newcastle United last weekend, with the West Londoners aware that victory would put them back into the mix for the European spots.

Despite Raheem Sterling equalising with a stunning free kick, Newcastle were deserved 4-1 victors, Chelsea down in 10th position in the table and seven points adrift of seventh place.

With Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester United to come in their next two fixtures, Pochettino is under pressure to instigate a quick turnaround in order to avoid losing touch with the teams above them.

Nevertheless, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Argentine's job is not coming under any extra scrutiny and he is currently safe in his position in the dugout.

Speaking on his YouTube Channel, Romano said: "The feedback is still the same on Chelsea's side, and they trust Mauricio Pochettino.

"They believe he is the right man for this project. It's a young team, and they need time. His job is not at risk at this point."

Pochettino has recorded a total of seven wins, four draws and five defeats from his 16 matches in all competitions.

A current plus point of his reign has been a run to the EFL Cup quarter-finals, with Chelsea overcoming AFC Wimbledon, Brighton and Blackburn Rovers respectively.

However, in order to progress further in the competition, Chelsea must defeat Newcastle in the last eight on the back of producing what Pochettino described as their worst performance of the season against the Magpies.
