Jordi Masip content with Barcelona role

Barcelona goalkeeper Jordi Masip insists that he is content with his spot as third-choice stopper at the Catalan club, despite his lack of first-team football.

Barcelona goalkeeper Jordi Masip has insisted that while he has ambitions to secure regular football, he is currently content with his role at the Catalan giants.

The 26-year-old joined Barcelona in 2004 and made 79 appearances for Barcelona B between 2008 and 2014, before being promoted into the first-team squad.

The Spaniard is third-choice stopper at Camp Nou, however, and is only likely to play when both Claudio Bravo and Marc-Andre ter Stegen are unavailable for selection.

Despite only making two first-team appearances for Barcelona, Masip has said that he 'knows where he is' and 'accepts his role'.

"I've always wanted to be in this squad. Sure, I'm ambitious and I want to play more, but I know where I am and the role that I have," the goalkeeper told Esports Cope.

Masip made his league debut for Barcelona in their final match of the 2014-15 campaign – a 2-2 draw with Deportivo La Coruna.
