Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Newcastle United

Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Monday night.

Arsenal return to Premier League action on Monday evening when they square off against Newcastle United for the second time in quick succession.

The Gunners faced the Magpies in the FA Cup third round on January 9, needing extra time to record a 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

However, Mikel Arteta's side followed that triumph with a goalless draw versus Crystal Palace on Thursday, leaving the Spaniard with decisions to make regarding his next team selection.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their next showdown with the North-East giants.

Gabriel Martinelli

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: January 18 (vs. Newcastle)

Martinelli suffered an ankle injury during the warm-up ahead of the first game with Newcastle, leading to suggestions that he faced another long-term absence. However, Arteta has suggested that the Brazilian youngster should return in the near future.

Kieran Tierney

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: January 18 (vs. Newcastle)

Tierney was a surprise absentee on Thursday night, something which initially led to suggestions that he had been rested. However, the left-back has been suffering from muscle tightness, leaving him as a doubt for the next game.

Pablo Mari

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: January 18 (vs. Newcastle)

Arteta revealed on Thursday that Mari's absence from his squad was precautionary, preferring to rest the Spaniard over taking a risk on a calf injury. As it stands, the centre-back should return to the squad for the next match.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Arsenal have no players suspended for the game on Monday night.
