Edie Falco cast as Hillary Clinton in American Crime Story: Impeachment

Edie Falco joins the cast of Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story: Impeachment in the role of Bill Clinton's wife Hillary.

The Sopranos star Edie Falco has been cast as Hillary Clinton in American Crime Story: Impeachment.

The series, which will dramatise President Bill Clinton's affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky in the 1990s, is the next instalment of the Ryan Murphy true crime franchise, following on from The People v OJ Simpson and The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

The show was originally envisaged for broadcast last autumn but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Clive Owen will be playing Hillary's husband Bill Clinton in the show, which has Lewinsky on board as a special adviser, with Sarah Paulson starring as whistleblower Linda Tripp and Booksmart's Beanie Feldstein playing Lewinsky.

Filming on American Crime Story: Impeachment began last month ahead of an expected premiere later this year.
