Kush's departure airs during Monday night's episode of EastEnders.

Davood Ghadami's departure from EastEnders played out in tonight's episode as Kush met his maker in shock scenes.

Having ratted on the Mitchells to the police, Kush decided to flee the square for a new life with Whitney (Shona McGarty) and his son Arthur.

In climactic scenes at Walford East tube station, a drunk Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith) confronted Kush on the platform while Whitney had taken Arthur to the toilet.

As the pair argued, Gray came to realise that Kush and Whitney were leaving for good - while it dawned on Kush that Gray had been harbouring feelings for his fiancée.

"I know why you're angry - because you've got feelings. For Whit. But those feelings, they ain't real," he told him. "You lost your wife and you're still grieving, so you've latched on to Whitney... and now she's leaving, something's gone, something's snapped."

As Gray's temper rose further, Kush continued: "She was your childminder for a couple of months and that's all she was... I'm sorry, I'm sorry if that is how you feel. But it is fantasy. Your brain ain't right - I think you need help."

"No, I don't need help," Gray replied. "I need Whitney."

The pair then came to blows and in the tussle, Gray ended up flat on the tube tracks as the train approached.

Kush shouted for him to get up and after helping him to safety, told him: "You could have killed yourself."

Jumping to his feet, Gray then pushed Kush into the path of the oncoming train before calmly pulling up his hood and leaving the station.

EastEnders continues Tuesday night at 7.30pm on BBC One.
