Channel 4 announces a second series of The Curse, set 18 months on from the events of the series one finale.

Channel 4 has confirmed that crime comedy The Curse is to return for a second series.

The show - created by and starring Tom Davis - is set in the 1980s and follows a group of useless gangsters as they attempt to pull off a heist.

The second series will be set 18 months after the events of the series one finale, joining the group on the Costa Del Sol - a haven for British criminals and the setting for The Curse to take hold again.

"We've been blown away by the response to the first series," said Davis, also known for King Gary and Murder In Successville.

"Excited to be upping the ante and heading back to the 80s for some fun in the sun. ESPANA BABY."

Joe Hullait, commissioning exec at C4, added: "We're so excited that this comedy supergroup are returning for another instalment of The Curse and cannot wait to see what exile in Spain looks like for the gang. It's going to be comedy gold."

The news comes after Channel 4 also greenlit second series for fellow comedies Big Boys and Hullraisers.
