ITV is reportedly developing a new reality show which will follow celebrities living in a simulation of a habitat on Mars.

ITV is reportedly developing a new celebrity reality series called Stars On Mars from the makers of Britain's Got Talent.

In the show, the group of famous faces will be filmed as they live in a simulation of a habitat on Mars, competing in various tasks to be named "the brightest star in the sky".

ITV's version would follow on from a US series of the same name, which will air this summer and feature Star Trek legend William Shatner as host.

"This show is zany and different – audiences haven't seen anything like it before," a source told The Sun.

"It will be a challenge and some will struggle with the conditions.

"The celebs will live, sleep and eat together – and those who don't cut the mustard will get voted off.

"Talent bosses are currently floating ideas for a presenter and celebs to take part."

Humans have yet to set foot on the red planet, although NASA has plans in the works to send a manned mission in the early-2030s, while Russia is aiming to send its own astronauts there in the 2040s.
