ITV executives reportedly fear that This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield could be booed at next month's NTAs over the Queue-gate scandal.

ITV executives are reportedly concerned that Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield could be booed at next month's National Television Awards.

The This Morning presenters have come under fire in recent weeks for using press privileges to see The Queen lying in state at Westminster Hall, bypassing the general queue in which members of the public waited for as long as 24 hours.

In a segment on the show, Willoughby insisted that the pair had not queue-jumped and had obtained press passes for the purposes of reporting on the event, but anger on social media has persisted and a petition calling for them to be sacked has topped 75,000 signatures.

According to The Sun, there are now fears that they could be booed by members of the public when they appear at Wembley Arena for the NTAs on October 13.

A source told the newspaper: "They could be booed walking down the red carpet or even on stage. It's a major concern."

Willoughby and Schofield have collected the gong for Best Daytime Programme at the event every year since 2011.
