Channel 4 commissions Rise and Fall, a new reality show from the makers of The Traitors hosted by Greg James.

Greg James has been announced as the host of Rise and Fall, a new Channel 4 reality series from the makers of The Traitors.

In the show, 16 contestants will enter the competition as equals but will soon find themselves divided into Rulers and Grafters, with the former living in an opulent penthouse and the latter living in a basic basement.

The Grafters must complete gruelling tasks to win a prize pot that will eventually go to one Ruler at the end of the game - and throughout the competition, anyone can rise to become a Ruler or fall to Grafter status, with the players themselves deciding on each other's fate.

"I've been waiting a long time for a show like this to come along that I can get stuck into and be the ringleader of," said James.

"It's an amazingly mad idea and the contestants are going to make some incredible TV.

"It's very exciting to launch something brand new on Channel 4 and I can't wait to see how it all plays out. Let the power struggle begin..."

The show is being filmed this month and will air over 18 episodes on C4 later this year.
