Channel 4 will reportedly air a new reality series featuring aspiring politicians.

Channel 4 is said to be planning a new reality series which will aim to find the next big star in the world of politics.

The show, called Trust Me... I'm The Prime Minister, will see 12 contestants whittled down by two "heavyweight" political figures.

The Sun says that details of the format are sketchy and it is unknown at this stage what the prize will be and who the judges are.

According to the newspaper, the contestants will take part in challenges that will mirror the real work of a public servant, while they will also be tested on their speech-giving and communication skills.

The show could air as soon as later this year.
