Channel 4's plans for a new reality show, tentatively called Virgin Island, have reportedly been blighted by a recruitment problem.
First announced last summer, the programme is to be set in an idyllic location and will feature a cast of virgins, with cameras following them as they take tentative steps towards having sex for the first time.
Speaking at the time, a C4 spokesperson said: "The science of intimacy is a growing area of vital importance and the hope is that by examining this issue with respect and rigour, the series will help younger audiences overcome their anxieties, and connect in a world where feelings of isolation are all too often the norm."
According to The Sun, however, the show has not yet received any applications for contestants over the last six months.
"Bosses have been looking for adults who are virgins to take part since the show was first revealed last July," a source told the newspaper.
"But the application date for the series has had to be extended to allow for contributors to send off their forms.
"Producers now hope to start filming this spring but the clock is ticking. Bosses are baffled as to how they're still struggling to find any virgins."
Virgins interested in appearing on the show can apply online at TheIntimacyRetreat.co.uk until February 25.
