Channel 4 confirms the primary cast for new coming-of-age drama The Birth of Daniel F Harris.

Channel 4 has today announced the cast for its new eight-part coming-of-age drama The Birth of Daniel F Harris.

The show, from the makers of Misfits and The End of the F***ing World, follows the story of Daniel, an 18-year-old boy whose mother was killed in a car accident when he was a baby.

After that point, his father kept him in a cocooned existence from the outside world, buying a house in the middle of nowhere and watching movies with no sad endings.

Daniel's life suddenly changes, however, and he goes to live with his aunt Sue and his 18-year-old cousin Aaron, an awkward young man who's in desperate need of a friend.

Deadwater Fell star Lewis Gribben has been cast as the lead Daniel, while Samuel Bottomley - known for Ladhood and Ackley Bridge - will play Aaron. The pair previously appeared together in the black comedy movie Get Duked!

Meanwhile, Lisa McGrillis - also of Deadwater Fell - will play Daniel's well-meaning aunt and Peaky Blinders actor Rory Keenan is his dad Steve.

Filming on the show, which was first announced a year ago, began earlier this summer.
