The upcoming TV spinoff of Boiling Point will not use the acclaimed one-take technique from the movie.

The upcoming TV spinoff of Boiling Point will not use the impressive one-take format employed in the film.

The acclaimed movie starred Stephen Graham as a brilliant chef with his own upmarket London restaurant and was set during a busy night of service - with all of the action filmed as a single take with a single camera.

The BBC has since commissioned a five-part follow-up TV series, with Graham returning in a limited capacity, although the filming style of the episodes will be a more traditional setup.

"We made the decision early on that we wouldn't film it in one take," director Philip Barantini told Empire magazine.

"It wasn't sustainable for the story we wanted to tell. And for the viewer, five hour-long episodes of that is just too intense.

"It's still very stressful. It's still shot in a socially realistic way. And the customers and pressures can still be a nightmare.

"When you work in hospitality, you really are a sitting duck, never knowing who is going to walk through the door. So the possibilities are endless in terms of stories to explore."

The show will be filmed early next year for broadcast on BBC One later in 2023.
