BBC Three announces details of a new one-off documentary following British strongman Eddie Hall and his tempestuous relationship with Thor Bjornsson.

The BBC has gained close access to British strongman Eddie Hall, aka 'The Beast', for a new BBC Three documentary.

The one-off piece will examine the relationship between Eddie and his former friend and fellow strongman Thor Bjornsson, who sparked a vicious conflict in 2017 when he contested Eddie's World's Strongest Man victory.

The programme will also have a mental health slant as it explores the 34-year-old's battles as a younger man and how he threw himself into training as a coping mechanism.

"It's been a real privilege to be welcomed into Eddie's life at this remarkable moment in his career and the journey to his historic showdown with Thor," said Nancy Strang, creative director of development at the BBC.

"Along with following his gruelling transformation from Strongman to Boxer our team have been given access to Eddie's life at home, and to his family and loved ones, giving us a candid and fascinating insight into his personal life and the man behind the muscle.

"It's a side of Eddie I don't think many people will have seen before."

Eddie Hall: The Beast and the Mountain will air on BBC Three later this year.
