BBC Two announces three new observational documentary series following Scottish police officers, midwives in Bradford and hotel workers in Northern Ireland.

The BBC has announced details of three new observational documentary series set all around the UK.

The new shows - all destined for BBC Two - are in the vein of The Yorkshire Firefighters and will follow groups of people working in a specific profession as they go about their daily work lives.

Highland Blues, which will also play out on BBC Scotland, has exclusive access to the Highlands & Islands division of Police Scotland, while cameras will follow a bunch of Bradford-based midwives in Yorkshire Born.

The final series is The Hotel People, which will follow the team at the family-run Hastings Hotels chain in Northern Ireland as the business attempts to recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

"These are three series of scale, from small indies based in the Nations, portraying the lives of communities across the UK," said Patrick Holland, the BBC's director of factual.

"These major projects are part of our ambitious commitment to supercharge co-commissioning with BBC Nations."

The BBC also plans to announce a similar series based in Wales in the near future.
