Katie Price escapes a prison sentence following her car crash in September.

Katie Price has been spared a jail term over the incident in September that saw her crash her car while under the influence.

The 43-year-old, who was also banned from driving at the time of the crash, spent a month in celebrity rehab clinic The Priory immediately after the incident.

Price could have been sent to prison in her sentencing today at Crawley Magistrates' Court, but a judge instead handed her a 16-week sentence suspended for a year.

The former model was also ordered to complete 200 hours of community service and attend 20 further sessions of rehab, while her driving ban was extended by another two years.

District Judge Amanda Kelly said: "When you chose to get behind the wheel that night you showed no concern for others.

"You could have killed somebody. Your actions meant the emergency services had to use up their precious time.

"You knowingly and deliberately flouted a court order and not for the first time. You seem to think you are above the law."

Price has now been banned from driving six times over the last decade.
