Ricky Gervais reveals that the third season of After Life should be released in time for Christmas.

Ricky Gervais has revealed that the third and final season of After Life is due to be filmed this spring.

The Netflix series, which stars Gervais as a man grieving the loss of his wife, is one of the comedian's most warmly-received shows to date, so much so that the reaction to season two convinced him to write one final instalment.

Asked for an update during an appearance on today's Lorraine, he said: "Well, everything going well, we're filming in April, May.

"Then it takes a few months to edit. Then it takes a few months to put it in 160 languages. So we're hoping by the end of the year.

"That will be the final instalment. First time I've done a third series of anything. But it felt right, I fell in love with the characters, and this should be it.

"I'm too fat and old. That's enough. It's all I can manage."

Gervais has already agreed a deal with Netflix to produce a new comedy series once After Life has concluded.
