Nick Grimshaw opens up on Caroline Flack's death

Nick Grimshaw admits that he has struggled to come to terms with close friend Caroline Flack's death.

Nick Grimshaw has admitted that he has struggled to come to terms with the death of close friend Caroline Flack earlier this year.

The Love Island presenter tragically took her own life on February 15 while awaiting trial for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend Lewis Burton, a claim that both Flack and Burton had denied.

Radio DJ Grimshaw was a confidante of Flack, as well as a colleague, with the pair having worked together on the 12th series of The X Factor in 2015.

Discussing Flack's suicide with The Guardian, Grimshaw said: "It's really hard to take. We weren't best friends, but we were close and we'd speak all the time. We'd spoken earlier that week. We had plans to hang out, and I'd been messaging her when all the shit had gone down. She was going through a tough time.

"[I think] that it could have been avoided. I know that always happens when someone dies young, and when I've had friends who have passed away before they should have. You always play a bit of 'what could I have done?'"

An inquest into Flack's death has been postponed until August.
