Larry King out of intensive care amid coronavirus battle

News legend Larry King is moved out of intensive care amid his battle with coronavirus.

Veteran news anchor Larry King is out of intensive care in a sign that he is winning his battle with coronavirus.

The 87-year-old, who has been part of the broadcasting landscape since the 1950s, was hospitalised before Christmas with COVID-19 and spent several days in the ICU.

Delivering an update on Monday night, King's spokesman David Theall revealed that the former CNN anchor has now been moved out of intensive care and is able to breathe without assistance.

The rep added that King has also been able to have a video call with his three sons, having been prohibited from seeing them in person over Christmas and the New Year due to strict coronavirus protocols.

King's advanced age and history of health problems - including heart disease, lung cancer and a stroke - place him at increased risk of the worst effects of coronavirus.
