Reggae and pop singer Johnny Nash dies after months of "declining health".

Reggae and pop singer-songwriter Johnny Nash has died at the age of 80 after months of "declining health", his family have confirmed.

The star was best known for his 1972 song 'I Can See Clearly Now', which topped the charts in the US for four weeks, while he also earned a UK number one in 1975 with the forgotten hit 'Tears On My Pillow'.

According to CBS News Los Angeles, Nash passed away at his home in Houston, Texas on Tuesday afternoon.

The musician is survived by his son Johnny, who confirmed the sad news, and wife Carli.
